Life without the internet WEEK 3!!!!!!!!

Yep... I'm now into my third week of having absolutely no internet access at home. Each day when I get home from work i check my wireless modem/router, hoping to see the 'internet' light flashing away, indicating that my connection has been re-established, only to see non-activity.

I still don't know who is to blame. Is it BT for messing up our line in the first place and having to make us change our number, or is it just a continuation of the on-going struggle I've been having with AOL disconnecting me all the time without any proper reasons. AOL state that they have no download limits, so it can't be because I've been downloading up to 40gb in 'stuff' every week! When we were down in Essex a few weeks ago, I finally convinced my Mum to go Broadband, and guess what.... she's already been connected and enjoying high speed broadband. If it wasn't for the fact that when I rang AOL up last week, and they reduced my bill for being a 'loyal long-time' customer, I'd probably just ditch them and re-order from someone else..... I'd probably be reconnected quicker!

Changing the subject a little.... I've only 5 more weeks to go before the school summer holiday begins!!! YIPPEEE.... 6 weeks off work. Oh, and a week on Saturday I'm off to Edinburgh to see DJ Tiesto...

...and speaking of DJ's, I've just found out that the school want ME to be guest DJ at our annual summer staff ball at Dumbleton Hall. Should be fun!

Life without the internet.... Week 2

I must really have a sad life... It's amazing how much a person can miss the internet, and it's only been 2 weeks. Its really beginning to show how much of my life revolves around having it - Ok, professionally it means I am unable to maintain the websites I am currently hosting (both personal and work based), but for personal use I am missing my beloved ware..... (ahem) download and Rapidshare sites.

Come on BT - Pull your finger our of your arse!!

Anyway, what have I been up to this past week? Well, besides wasting many hours playing Tomb Raider Anniversay, I've had another driving lesson, AND I've had my hair bleached (now with trendy highlights - pictures to follow)

Whoa... Stuart Wilson trying to be fashionable... Quick ring the press!

Internet Access Withdrawal symtoms.. ARRGGHHH!

Dan (0ddness) isn't the only person who is having problems with his internet connection. After returning home from our week away in Laindon, I find that MY broadband connection, along with our telephone has stopped working. We were having problems with BT before our holiday and they promised that it would be sorted.... Its just got worse!!!

AND YES... we have paid our bills!

So, I am without internet access at home (which is a bummer), and I'm having to resort to using the school internet system for all of my downloading needs (as an administrator, I don't get all those pesky restrictions that everyone else gets!!! HE HE!!).

We're back....

We're back!!! (I bet you didn't even notice that I had gone!!!!).

We've just spent the last week visiting my family and friends in my hometown of Laindon, Essex only to come home to the usual crap that we've been having to put up with since our holiday last year (I will explain in more detail in a future post). Anyway, its good to be back home again, working, and generally letting things return to normality again.

During our visit we managed to cram as much as we could in the short time that we were there (including meeting up with old friends Dan, Jo and family, Pete and Gemma), as well as day trips to Southend (can't beat a nice stroll along Southend Pier), London and of course the shopping mecca that is Basildon! Oh... did I mention about us getting lost while having a walk in Langdon Hills!!

Anyway, I took loads of great panoramic photos which I am currently processing so expect to see them soon on my Panoramics website.

28 Weeks Later

I'm not a great fan of modern British films - they tend to be crap, unfunny comedies with knobs like Hugh Grant starring in them.... 2002 saw the release of the fantastic 28 Days Later, a movie about a virus outbreak in the UK that causes its victims to turn into a permanent state of 'rage', killing/infecting everyone (very zombieish) totally decimating the population and generally putting the country in the catagory of 'worst place you would like to spend your holiday'.

When I heard about a sequel several months ago, I got all excited. Well, tonight I have just seen '28 Weeks Later' and boy what a film!!!!

I'm not quite sure whether it's better than the original or not, but that doesn't mean it wasn't any good - far from it. One of the best horror movies I've seen in a long time, and it has helped restore my faith in the British film industry.

I'm not going to reveal too much of what happens - this post is more of a recommendation, but some of the highlights have to be Napalming London, The helicopter 'chopping' scene, and of course the fantastic ending, certainly an indication that there might be a '28 Months Later' or something along those lines in the near future.

Go and see it!
