Now That's What I Call Stuart's Favourite Music 2 - Life's What You Make It (Talk Talk)

This is my favourite 80s track, and quite possibly my favourite tune of all time. I just love this song!

Released way back in 1985, peaking at number 16 in the UK Charts (criminal - it should've reached number 1).

I remember having this on a compilation of 80's tracks that my sister made for me - on an old Dixons branded C60 cassette. I always remember it coming straight after Mike and the Mechanic's "Silent Running".

There is no other reason for me to include this song on my list of musical memories - when I listen to it, it brings back so many happy memories.

One memory, in particular, is of me, my sister and Mum playing a computer game called "Treasure Island" on our Commodore Plus 4.  I guess the song was on the radio one time while we were playing it, and it has stuck with me ever since.

Enjoy Life's What You Make It, from Talk Talk.

Now That's What I Call Stuart's Favourite Music 1 - What Is Love (Howard Jones)

Note - This post was originally written in 2011 and re-edited in 2021)

A friend of mine, (Dan English) did something similar every Monday many, many years ago... Well.... Some Mondays at least (remember Musical Mondays?), so I am going to start too - I will be posting videos to songs that mean something to me....

Songs I love...  Songs I grew up with...  Songs that have got me through good times, and bad times.

Why am I doing this?

The project began back in 2011 as a way to collect my favourite childhood tunes and put them in one place to share with my family and friends on my blog.

At first, I limited my list to only include music from my childhood and later teenage years, but as I get older with each passing year, I've decided that I should also include a selection from more recent times too.  Just don't expect too many of them...  I'm a child of the 70s and 80s after all.

The other reason for doing this is because I can remind people just how great 80s music really is (compared to the chod that is in the charts today).

Anyway....... Let us begin with.......

Now That's What I Call Music 1:- Howard Jones - What Is Love

Released back in 1983 and taken from Howard's debut album, Human's Lib, it reached Number 2 in the UK Singles Charts.

I have fond memories of this song - partly because my sister was a big fan of 'HoJo' and always played his music (I could always hear it through the thin wall that separated our bedrooms - I'd be busy playing games on my Commodore 64 and she'd be blaring the likes of Howard Jones and Nik Kershaw!). I wasn't really interested in it when I was young, but as I grew up and appreciated 80s music more, this one always stands out as a classic 80s track and one of my all time favourites.
